Patrick Prescott came into the Maine State Championship just coming off from a shoulder injury and with only one day of practice. The time off the bike alone would prove to be a hurdle that could make it difficult to run up front early. With those elements in mind everyone was expecting a slow start with hope of getting back up to speed by Sunday.

When the #199 ride ripped the holeshot in moto one of the 65 C class Saturday morning all of those thoughts went out the window. Patrick would lead the 65 C class and battle hard through both motos to go 3-3 for 2nd overall on the day. He made the most of his aggressive riding style and rode well in his Open class ending the day in 10th and even put his 85 bike in the top 10 by days end.

Going into Sunday’s racing Team EJP was looking forward to more of the same. The pressure was now on for Pat to go after a championship in his 65 C class. Things started rough when he continued the aggressive racing style and went down on the final lap of the 65 Open class going for a late pass. This trend continued in the 85 C and 65 C class with crashes late in the moto. The weekend ended during the final 65 Open class when he went down really hard.

Patrick hit the ground hard enough that he would have to DNS his final motos and leave the track with a tentative 5th place finish in the 65 C class and resulted in finishing just outside the top ten overall in his other classes on the weekend.

His finishes are disappointing compared to the high hopes the team had going into Sunday morning. However, with a full schedule planned for the fall season Pat is now focused on getting healthy and turning this new found aggressive speed into some great results.
